I’m not sure that this photograph is particularly good from a technical perspective – the focus is a little bit out – but I kind of like it. I think it’s because I’m able to see the inside of the cane: the rattan’s structure and the way the tubular fibres sit so snugly next to one another. Looking at them like this, in cross section, it’s hard to believe they could pack much of a punch – ye gads do they ever, though!

You know I like about it is that it oddly resembles a chocolate or candy bar, like a Crunchie…. which is all sweet and crispy…unlike a cane that is not ‘sweet’ at all… unless you count the sound it makes as it swishes through the air!
