This month’s Sinful Sunday challenge was ‘silhouette’ and, man, was it a tricky one.

First I tried silhouetting myself against the porch light. Then against the garage sensor light. Then against the bathroom light. Then against one of M’s DIY painting spots. In the end, though, it came down to a cheap IKEA lamp and practically sticking my boob and the clover clamp on top of the bulb.

I’m not sure that either of these pics are particularly good (I can’t decide which I like better so am posting both) but – hooray! – I finally managed to produce some shots that actually matched the brief!

*For those interested, the technical settings for these images: ISO – 400; Shutter speed – 1/250; Aperture – 5.6.

  1. It has been interesting to me that people have struggled with this prompt as I thought it was a relatively easy one but clearly I was wrong. I am glad to have challenged people though and got them trying something new….

I have a mental image of you trying out all these different lighting situations and ‘M’ just shaking his head as you got more and more frustrated. *laughs

I really like the clamp one of these two as it really shows off the strength of the structure and why they are so mean

  2. Both are lovely silhouettes, but I especially like the one with the clamps, the way the bulb shines through their shape is gorgeous — fantastic job with the prompt Jane! :)
